Public Thrift first launched in Corktown in January 2020. We had a teeny, tiny pop-up space. After a few years of hiatus, we opened a store in Hamtramck in October 2022.

Public Thrift is a worker-cooperative, which means that the power of the business is in the hands of us—the workers. It is a place to shop sustainably and affordably and also a business that supports the local community.

We strive to be a low-waste thrift store, pay workers well above minimum wages, partner with mutual aid groups and non-profits to donate excess items, and provide consignment opportunities to local people.

If you are interested in partnering or have another idea you want to share, contact us!
